Type of injection for Trigger Finger

Researchers have recently investigated the effectiveness of two common types of steroid in the treatment of Trigger finger. In the American Journal of Hand Surgery, they concluded that there was no difference in the effectiveness of either type at 3 months but thought that triamcinolone has a quicker onset but less duarble effect than dexamethasone. Mike Hayton will continue to use triamcinolone. If injections fail to give lasting benefit, Mike Hayton offers a trigger finger surgical release under local anaesthetic.
